Eating disorder is the problem which is hard to dissolve completely.
All of girls want to be slim, and that cause anorexia. Also, there are many girls who can not overcome those appetite. It is very difficult to keep in good shape. Since there are girls who want to be slim, I think this problem, especially anorexia will not disappear. I am also a girl who want to be slim. When I really want to be slim, what if I was an anorxia. The reason why I can think like this easily is because I still don't understand the fear of eating disorder. This also cause people to be eating disorder.
I chose this topic because I have thought many times that if I were anorxia, I am slim. But I did not think the fear of it. Many of girls have complex to their figure. To be thinner, I am now controlling meals. I know this is a not good way to be thin. Since I am in like this current stand, I want to know more about eating disorder.

I think it is really important to understand the serious-ness of anorexia and other eating disorders.
Many people around me (during highschool) has been anorexic. Some people tried to eat just healthy healthy foods (which is a plus) but some starved themselves.
I am very interested in this topic, and would like to know more about it :D
I agree with Miho that it's very important to understand the seriousness of eating disorders since they have such terrible consequences for one's health and well being and can even lead to death in extreme cases. Early in my teaching career, one of my students confessed to me that she was suffering from bulimia. Due to her disease she had to drop out of school. As most people who suffer from this disease, she was highly intelligent (and even a bit of an "over-achiever") and she knew--at least intellectually--the dangers that her eating patterns posed to her health. She induced vomiting after doing binge eating and that was making her throat raw and wearing out the enamel of her teeth. Also, she couldn't lead a normal social life because of her obsession with food and, as her family knew about her problem and thought she should be hospitalized, she felt that she couldn't turn to them for support or understanding. I just tried to help her by listening, because she already "knew" that she had to stop doing her destructive behavior; it was just a matter of HOW to start to change. I had suggested various self-help groups since this is so hard to do on your own. In Tokyo there's a group called "Overeaters Anonymous" that gets together for mutual support. I'm sure there are some groups intended mainly for Japanese as well. Maybe one place where you can start is looking at what sorts of outreach and campaigns these types of groups are involved in. I hope this helps.
Cheers,
Joseph
When i'm walking on the street, i often see girls who are too skinny. They don't look pretty but look awful... i hope we can learn about eating disorder and have healthy lives :)
These days many young women long for being slender. Models we watch in fashion magazines are all slender and it is not too much to say that their parts of their bodies are too thin.
Many girls are apt to misunderstand that these models' body is ideal. As the result they starve and it leads to eating disorder.
Of course there are other causes of eating disorder, and each cause has complicated factor.
Since this problem is closely related to us, I want to learn more about it.
